This is a very old industrial round saftey device stamped with Protectoseal co. of America Chicago. Protectoseal made containers like these starting in the 20s as a way to safely store flammable liquids, rags, etc. It has lots of patina and just a few minor dents. Please see the photos as they are part of the description. If you decorate in steampunk this is a great piece to have. A bit over 7 3/4" in Diameter at the bottom. The lid is 8 3/4" in Diameter. The container is 4" tall without the lid and 5" to top dome of lid. From bottom to top of handle is just shy of 7"
