It is a little under 2 1/2" at the very top just a but over 2" at the bottom. The bottom goes in your vase and the top rim keeps it from falling in the vase. It does have some chips in the top rim. The holes in the bottom are rough, I dont know if they are chipped or just never sanded down during production. Please see photos as they are part of the desxription.
